MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe's loyalists have claimed their leader should be allowed to continue at the helm of the party ahead of Morgen Komichi and Douglas Mwonzora, who they accuse of ditching the party only to come back after falling out of favour with the MDC Alliance leadership. The calls have exposed deeprooted divisions in the party ahead of the extraordinary congress set for December with Khupe, Mwonzora, Komichi and Elias Mudzuri reportedly gunning for the party presidency. The MDC-T is due to hold its congress to elect a new leader in December using the 2014 structures as ordered by the Supreme Court. Mwonzora, last week, however, said all members recalled from the party and Parliament would not be allowed to contest. Mwonzora was MDC Alliance deputy secretary for i
Tongues are being rolled overtime as Zimbabweans are being fed propaganda over the suspension of by elections on December. The Vice President Dr comrade Constantino Gueveya Chiwenga, who is also the Health Minister, on Friday 2nd October 2020 suspended all by-elections the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) had scheduled for 5 December citing the Covid-19 pandemic. In the onset of COVID 19 ZEC chairperson, Justice Priscilla Chigumba following the guidelines of the World Health Organisation announced that by-elections were to be conducted in December 2020. Justice Chigumba was like any other person in the world believing that by December COVID will be history. After carefully studied the situation in the world and the ugly resurgent of the virus in several countries Dr C
ZANU-PF was forced to abandon primary elections in Kwekwe yesterday after violence broke out at the party district offices, leading to several arrests. Machete-wielding youths stormed polling stations, with rival factions clashing while singing revolutionary songs, forcing the party to abandon the polls. Kandros Mugabe and Energy Ncube were supposed to battle it out for the ticket to represent the party in by-elections to replace the late Kwekwe Central legislator Masango Matambanadzo. Matambanadzo, who won the seat in the July 2018 general elections as a National Patriotic Front candidate, beating Mugabe, died in July. Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Daniel Mackenzie-Ncube confirmed the skirmishes and blamed them on makorokoza. He said the makorokoza were allegedly
Zimbabwe's main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC-A), is imploding as the country's ruling Zanu-PF conspires with a tiny MDC splinter group, the Movement for Democratic Change Tsvangirai (MDC-T), to help it seize the much bigger party's parliamentary seats and other elected offices, headquarters and finances. Zanu-PF has also arrested several MDC-A leaders over the past few weeks and has now accused it of plotting an armed struggle. The destruction of the MDC-A threatens to create a de facto one-party state in Zimbabwe - which is Zanu-PF's intention of course - some MDC-A leaders believe. With the help of "captured" - pro- Zanu-PF - judges and a Zanu-PF Speaker of Parliament, the MDC-A, led by Nelson Chamisa, has already lost ab
Two man who are in the business of buying second hand clothing for Harare’s busy “Mabhero” market were last month robbed of over US$100 000 under very dramatic circumstances involving a police detective. The detective with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Richard Majone (36) and his co-accused Philip Tambaoga (32) were in court last week on charges of robbing the two men of US$130 000 at a fake roadblock in Harare City Centre. Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga remanded the pair in custody to October 15 and advised them to apply for bail at the High Court due to the gravity of the charges against them. According to the court record, the two who were in the company of four others who are still on the run, hatched a plan to rob the two known M

Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala MP for Zengeza West. Let the world be informed that junior prison officers at Chikurubi Maximum Prison are under siege for allegations that they were treating me nicely and not adhering to the insructions of their bosses. I have received unusual visits both at home and at my office from several prison officers who have been victimized for showing alleged favoritism to me. They were called to some kangaroo courts at the Prisons Headquarters and accused of failure to execute instructions, some of them bizzare. They are accused of having failed to control journalists at the High Court after i was granted bail by Justice Ndewere. They are accused of allowing journalists to film me and allowing me to talk to friends and relatives who had come to give me solidarity.
A Darwendale man who had hired two hook3rs for a good time in the Avenues ended up losing his money and valuables after one of the girls he had sent to collect money in his car went for good. The suspect, Letween Mahachi, 27, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Charity Maunga who remanded her in custody to today for bail consideration. The complainant is Lucky Mapfunde 33. Prosecutor Desire Chidanire alleged that on September 13 at Dana place corner Seventh and Selous Avenue, Mapfunde met Mahachi who is a self-proclaimed s_x worker and engaged her for a s_xual favour. Mapfunde was charged US$3 for ‘short time’ and they agreed on the amount and went to her room. The court heard that as they were in the room, Tatenda Chamunorwa entered the
Police have launched a manhunt for about seven armed robbers, who allegedly killed a 60-year-old man at his home in Rusape and stole US$7 and an undisclosed amount in local currency. Reports indicated that the gang members, who were armed with knives, machetes and wooden sticks, pounced on Boas Mamutse and his family on Sunday at around 7pm. They allegedly demanded money from the family and were told there was none. They quarrelled with Mamutse, saying they knew that his daughter got married recently and told him to surrender the money he received as bride price. The gang reportedly told Mamutse that they knew he was the custodian of contributions for a burial society as the treasurer and started assaulting him with sticks before they took an axe and struck him on the nose.
