Several vehicles were detained, including two buses travelling to Zimbabwe, due to serious road safety violations. The first bus, travelling from Durban to Zimbabwe, is allowed to carry only 63 passengers but was found carrying 82 passengers. The second bus, travelling from Johannesburg to Zimbabwe, is allowed to carry 70 passengers but was found carrying 79 passengers. Some light delivery vehicles and heavy vehicles with unroadworthy trailers were also detained during the operation at the N1 Zebediela Traffic Control
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of victims who died in three separate fatal road traffic accidents that occurred on December 17, 2025, in Nyamapanda, Ruwa and Nyabira.The accident occurred at around 11:45 AM at the 32.5-kilometre peg. Police said the kombi was carrying 18 passengers when its right rear tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned before landing on its left side.
