FIVE people who were travelling to Mutare yesterday (Wednesday) night died after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction (Wednesday) night died after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction near Marondera.
Although finer details of the accident were yet to be established as police were still to put together what exactly transpired, The Manica Post has established that two of the deceased persons – Jimmy and Sam – both belonged to the family of prominent businessman, Mr Sam Sithole, popularly known as Samboy.
The three other deceased are also related to Mr Sithole.
In an interview this afternoon, Mr Sithole, said he was devastated by the shocking
am at a loss of words. It is a shocker, and the whole family is in grief. We are really down and devastated. We did not see it coming. I am in pain. I am currently in Marondera to ensure that the bodies are taken to Mutare with the assistance of Nyaradzo Funeral Services.
“I am sure we will travel later today (Thursday afternoon). I will notify you of other arrangements including their burial as I am yet to meet with other family members to decide whether we can bury them in Mutare or Chipinge,” said Mr Sithole.
