Couple(37) & (60) up for raping 17-year-old niece

A Kuwadzana couple has appeared in court for allegedly conniving to rape a 17-year-old relative.
A 37-year-old woman from Kuwadzana and her 60-year-old husband allegedly connived to rape their 17-year-old niece in a ploy to force her to be a second wife to the uncle.
It is the State's case that the girl's aunt wrote the teenager a letter asking her to be her husband's second wife before forcing the girl to join them in their bedroom.
The aunt then reportedly forced the girl to have sexual intercourse with her husband while she watched.
The court heard that the 17-year-old girl was raped several times until she fell pregnant.
The couple appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
Rape and pledging minors to marriage carry custodial sentences if one is convicted.
Under the new legislation, convicted child sexual offenders will be imprisoned for not less than 15 years.
