The music superstar and national hero Oliver Mtukudzi’s company, Tuku Music and Promotions, has been fined $35 000 for failing to submit tax returns to the Zimbabwe Revenue. According to the Dailynews, Tuku’s company was summoned to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on allegations of failing to submit income tax returns and Value Added Tax (VAT) to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA). The music label, which was being jointly charged with Mtukudzi’s daughter and public relations manager, Samantha Mtukudzi, appeared before magistrate Mrs Tafadzwa Miti on two counts of violating the Income Tax Act. The Global DNA Zimbabwe has dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming that DNA specialist Tinashe Mugabe stole the paternity show idea from Tanaka Vibes Dube. This comes after Tanaka Dube who happens to be a filmmaker outright accused the popular TV host of stealing his paternity show concept, ‘Baba Ndiani’ after the two met to discuss the proposal. TUKU Music Promotions, represented by the late music icon Oliver Mtukudzi’s daughter Samantha Mtukudzi, is today expected to appear in court on allegations of failing to pay income tax returns and value added tax to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.
