A Zimbabwean national who reportedly served as an elder at a Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa church in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for raping and sexually assaulting a vulnerable woman.
However, the convicted offender, Innocent Majoni, 47, remains at large after failing to appear at Leeds Crown Court for sentencing.
Majoni was found guilty following a trial on three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. He was sentenced in his absence as authorities continued efforts to locate him.
The court heard that Majoni deliberately targeted a woman whose immigration status left her vulnerable. He allegedly threatened to report her to the UK Home Office and have her deported unless she submitted to his demands.
“He Called Me Fresh Meat”
In an emotional victim impact statement read before the court, the woman described the fear, humiliation and trauma she continues to experience.
“I still do not feel safe. He forced himself on me. He threatened to go to the Home Office. I came here for safety and ended up in this situation,” she said.
“He called me ‘fresh meat’ and it made me feel dirty. Emotionally, physically and mentally it has impacted me.”
The woman said Majoni’s disappearance has left her constantly fearing for her safety and worrying that other women could also be in danger.
“If he can’t be found and brought to justice, I will never feel safe and will always worry what he is doing to other women,” she said.
“Where is he? I’m still at risk. I’m traumatised by everything.”
Immigration Status Allegedly Used as a Weapon
Recorder of Leeds Guy Kearl KC found that Majoni had exploited the woman’s vulnerable circumstances and used the threat of deportation to control and intimidate her.
The woman reportedly waited several years before reporting the offences because she feared the consequences of approaching authorities while her immigration position remained uncertain.
She only felt safe enough to report what had happened after securing her immigration status.
By the time the criminal case reached its conclusion, Majoni had disappeared.
In addition to the 13-year prison sentence, the judge imposed a lifetime restraining order, meaning any future attempt by Majoni to contact the victim would constitute a separate criminal offence.
Former Care Company Director
UK Companies House records show that Majoni was born in January 1979 and is a Zimbabwean national.
He previously served as a director of ILS24 Health Care Limited, a Leeds-based care company that has since entered liquidation.
Majoni was appointed as a director in July 2013 and resigned in January 2023, according to official company records.
He was also reported to have been a prominent member and elder at the ZAOGA Leeds Assembly.
The church has not been accused of involvement in Majoni’s offences.
Police Search Continues
Majoni’s case has shocked sections of the Zimbabwean community in Britain, particularly because of his reported position of trust within the church and care sectors.
The court praised the victim for finding the courage to come forward despite years of fear and uncertainty.
Her case highlights the difficulties faced by vulnerable migrants who may be afraid to report abuse because offenders threaten them with arrest, deportation or immigration consequences.
Majoni remains wanted, with authorities seeking to bring him into custody so that he can begin serving his 13-year sentence.
Anyone with credible information concerning his whereabouts should contact the relevant UK police authorities rather than approaching him directly.

Best High-Yield Savings Accounts for Emergency Funds
A high-yield savings account is one of the safest places to keep your emergency fund. It gives you easy access to your money while earning more interest than many traditional savings accounts.
rnThis topic performs well because many people search for it when they are trying to improve their financial foundation. An emergency fund should be easy to access, separate from everyday spending, and safe from market swings. That makes high-yield savings accounts a practical choice for short-term savings.
rnWhen choosing an account, compare the annual percentage yield, monthly fees, minimum balance requirements, and withdrawal rules. A slightly higher interest rate can be helpful, but only if the account is also easy to use and does not charge you unnecessary fees. Convenience matters just as much as yield.
rnYou should also check whether the bank is online-only or has physical branches. Online banks often offer stronger rates because they have lower overhead, but some people prefer the comfort of in-person support. The best account depends on how you like to manage your money.
rnAnother factor is whether the bank offers fast transfers. Since an emergency fund may be needed quickly, you want an account that allows easy access without delays. Some accounts also connect well with checking accounts, making it easier to move money when needed.
rnA good emergency fund goal is usually several months of essential expenses. That money should sit in a place where it is protected, but still available when your car breaks down, a medical bill appears, or you lose income unexpectedly. A high-yield savings account is designed for exactly that purpose.
rnDo not use this account for long-term investing. Its job is not to maximize growth, but to keep your emergency cash safe and available while earning some interest along the way.
rnThe best high-yield savings account for an emergency fund is the one that combines safety, access, and a competitive rate.
