The music superstar and national hero Oliver Mtukudzi’s company, Tuku Music and Promotions, has been fined $35 000 for failing to submit tax returns to the Zimbabwe Revenue.
According to the Dailynews, Tuku’s company was summoned to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on allegations of failing to submit income tax returns and Value Added Tax (VAT) to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA).
The music label, which was being jointly charged with Mtukudzi’s daughter and public relations manager, Samantha Mtukudzi, appeared before magistrate Mrs Tafadzwa Miti on two counts of violating the Income Tax Act.
Samantha and her late father’s company were not formally placed on remand.
Tuku Music and Promotions allegedly failed to submit income tax returns and Value Added Tax between June last year and January this year.
