Concept of prison is to rehabilitate by imparting skills and preparing for reintegration back into the community. The old prison system we knew back then is different from now. Prisoners receive food, toiletries and even wear their own shoes and jerseys from home as long as their red and white.
Zimbabwe even has an Open Prison Concept where prisoners can go home and come back to prison. Prisoners are allowed to partake in activities where they can saw, knit or even plait hair and they also benefit financially.
If a prisoner can provide resources they can make whatever. Prisons are not for punishment but for rehabilitation. I'm sure the person in question would mot want to lose their remission which is subject to good behaviour by going against the rules. However everyone is entitled to an opinion.
