In a statement on its official Twitter page, police appealed to members of the public with information that can lead to the man’s arrest to come forward.

The statement reads:

The ZRP has observed a video circulating on the social media where a man is seen assaulting several women using what appears to be a hosepipe after forcing them to eat pepper. We are therefore appealing for information which may lead to the identification of victims and the assailant thereto. Anyone with information may visit the nearest police station or call the Complaints Desk on 0242 703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197. #notocrime

iHarare reported the matter on Wednesday calling the video humiliating and reminiscent of the Rhodesian era. The video, which has gone viral shows the man canning the ladies on the hand, with a thick, sinister looking sjambok.

The man who is yet to be identified, lines up the ladies, and delivers corporal punishment in what has been viewed as heavy handedness, when it comes to disciplinary measures.

It is not yet clear where the incident happened but the background setting resembles that of a farm or a plot.
