A man from Bulawayo who allegedly killed his pregnant girlfriend suspecting her of having an affair with another man a few days before he was due to pay lobola for her has been denied bail by the High Court.
Obvious Velani Sibanda (26) allegedly killed his girlfriend Hillary Ntando Ncube when she received a call from another man suspected to be her boyfriend.
The two were in talks for lobola payment to formalise their relationship.
As reported by the Southern Eye, Sibanda through his lawyer Brian Robi of Dube Legal Practice filed an application for bail at the High Court pending trial.
The State opposed the granting of bail arguing that Sibanda is facing a charge of murder in which if convicted, he will be sentenced to a long jail term.
High Court judge Justice Christopher Dube Banda upheld the State’s fears and dismissed Sibanda’s application for bail.
