Q&A

Zimbolivenews: Who are you?
MadMinox: Godfrey Chafudzika AKA Mad Minox , The Ghettocrown King

Zimbolivenews: What make you so popular on social media?
MadMinox: The Love for my neighbourhood that is Mbare & my character as a person

Zimbolivenews: How long have you Been in Diaspora?
MadMinox: 28 Years

Zimbolivenews: How did you get involved in reggae/dancehall music?
MadMinox: Bob Marley when he performed at Rufaro Stadium on 17 April 1980 Zimbabwe Independence eve.  Thereafter came a crew from UK with a sound system called Africa A1 Outernational, who lived in 3rd Avenue Mbare. In and around 1981, 1982 Africa A1 started playing music at YWCA AKA "Y Dub Center" close to Edith Operman maternity hospital. That’s when I really got hooked to Rub A Dub music

Zimbolivenews: Who were your role models growing up?
MadMinox:  My eldest late brother Posi Chafudzika and my Father & Mother

Zimbolivenews: Who were your role models growing up in music?
MadMinox: Musically it was Pawa Chitemere of Africa A1 Sound International & Farai Shambare Small Axe Sound

Zimbolivenews: Who were the top sound systems you battled with in the 90's?
MadMinox: Silvertsone "Don" Sound used to clash with Stereo One Sound on a regular. However, we had some one or two clashes with Startime Supa Power & Small Axe International. I man as a Selector representing Silverstone, I played alongside Glen Washington & Maumau Sounds from Kenya in Dallas, Texas USA. And Shashamane Sound in Nairobi, Kenya. I also played in Mbambane, Swaziland at a place called House on Fire and Carwash Yeoville, Johannesburg South Africa. Overall, Silverstone "Don" Sound is the only sound that played in almost every city and town in Zimbabwe.

Zimbolivenews: Most people from the ghetto never go back, why do you keep coming back to Mbare?
MadMinox: I go back on regular because of loneliness living in a foreign country by myself. On the other, in the 90's I was going back to Zimbabwe to push my sound system called Silverstone "Don" Sound. In the early 2000's I used to go on a regular because of my mother’s sickness until her death in 2012. Now I am rather used to it, so I visit Mbare, Harare, Zimbabwe every 6 months

Zimbolivenews: What do you think about Zimdancehall?
MadMinox: Zimdancehall is the best thing that ever happened to the Ghetto youths who live in extreme poverty. It is the voice of weak, needy, sick, jobless, and poor

Zimbolivenews: What do you think of the current Zimbabwean music scene?
MadMinox:  I can't say much because of the politics in music going on. Every other artist when they make it, they don't like to uplift the upcoming artist. At the same time, the so-called big artist quickly forget who were there for them when they were not known. It’s a shame because friends becomes enemies after an artist makes it to the top. Likewise the big artist start to shun the Producers who worked with them ealier in the days when they couldn't afford to pay for studio time

Zimbolivenews: What changes or how has the music scene changed from the 1990's to now?
MadMinox: The music scene has changed drastically, because now we don't have to go to UK, USA, Canada to buy the music. All type of music is readily available for free downloading as long as one have Internet access

Zimbolivenews: Are you Married, Dating or Single?
MadMinox: Single

Zimbolivenews: Are you an Ass or Boob guy?
MadMinox: I like both the Ass & the Boobs as long as woman knows how to navigate the waistline to show what she have.

Zimbolivenews: Which Zimbabwean female celebrity do you have a crush on?
MadMinox: None at the moment, but used to have a crush on Makosi

Zimbolivenews: What advise would you give to the youth?
MadMinox: My main advise to the youths is be original, never pirate style, have faith in yourself, better must come one day if you try.

Zimbolivenews: What’s something you would like your fans to know about you?
MadMinox: I am original, I don't imitate anyone. I love my family & friends to the bone. I always show Respect when its due even if I don't like a person or crew. One thing I can't do is stop people from saying negative vibes about me because in life there is good and bad. I am embrace everything as long as you don't disrespect me in my face. Kutaura mahara, no one knows me more than myself
