MATABELELAND North Province recorded a rise in murder cases during the first five months of the year, with 43 incidents reported between January and May, compared to 33 recorded during the same period last year.
The figures were released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following the arrest of murder suspects, Kwanele Phiri and Denford Moyo, in connection with the killing of Telford Hadasi in Inyathi on 30 May.
According to statistics released by Officer Commanding Matabeleland North Province, Commissioner Steven Kazingizi, the province recorded 10 more murder cases than during the corresponding period in 2025.
April registered the highest number of cases, with 14 murders reported, up from 11 during the same month last year.
March recorded 11 cases, compared to nine in March 2025, while January and May each registered three more cases than the corresponding months last year.
February was the only month to record a decline, with three cases reported compared to four during the same period in 2025.
Police arrested 48 suspects in connection with the murder cases recorded during the five-month period.
Statistics released by the ZRP indicate that interpersonal conflicts remain a major driver of violent crime in the province.
Other misunderstandings accounted for the highest number of murder cases at 17, followed by incidents with unknown motives, which stood at 11
Domestic disputes contributed seven cases, while mob justice-related incidents accounted for six. Grudges were identified as the motive in two cases.
The figures highlight growing concerns over violent conflict and underscore the need for communities to resolve disputes peacefully and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

Personal Injury Lawyers: What Accident Victims Need to Know About Compensation Claims
Personal injury law remains one of the most important legal areas for individuals who suffer injuries due to accidents or negligence. Every year, millions of people are involved in car accidents, workplace injuries, slip-and-fall incidents, and medical malpractice cases that result in physical pain, emotional distress, and financial hardship. Personal injury lawyers help victims recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and other damages caused by accidents.

Hiring an experienced personal injury attorney can significantly improve the outcome of a legal claim. Insurance companies often attempt to reduce payouts or deny responsibility altogether, leaving victims struggling to cover medical bills and everyday expenses. Attorneys understand how to gather evidence, negotiate settlements, and represent clients in court when necessary. Evidence such as police reports, medical records, witness statements, and photographs can strengthen a compensation claim and increase the likelihood of a favorable result.

Many personal injury law firms work on a contingency fee basis, meaning clients do not pay legal fees unless compensation is successfully recovered. This makes legal representation more accessible for individuals facing financial difficulties after serious accidents. Experts recommend seeking legal advice as soon as possible because delays can impact evidence collection and legal deadlines. Understanding personal injury rights is essential for anyone involved in an accident caused by another party’s negligence.
