Zimbabwe landlords now face a new 15% tax on rental income from commercial properties starting , with tenants required to withhold the tax and pay it directly to ZIMRA if landlords fail to comply. If you own a building or land and rent it out to someone running a business, you must register with ZIMRA and pay 15% of the total rent you receive each month no deductions allowed. The tax is due by the 10th of the following month. If you don't pay, the taxman can force your tenant to pay it instead, and you could face a penalty equal to the full amount of unpaid tax. Residential rentals are not affected, and the new tax does not replace VAT or other taxes like informal trader's tax. Landlords already registered under the old self-assessment system

.I am writing to report and complain about the way people are being treated at Central Vehicle Registry (CVR), 25 Robson Manyika Road, Harare. We wanted to make payments for our Drivers licence- disc application or replacement at the Accounts counter. Everytime we go there the Teller will be there but not receipting any payments. When asked they claim they are occupied with other duties. People will wait and be told to come back at 2pm but nothing happens. This is getting out of hand. If these women feel they nolonger want to do the job, they can simply leave and give others who are unemployed in Zimbabwe the chance to deliver impeccable customer services.
