maidananaA 33-year-old woman based in the United States has appeared before the courts charged with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy in the Harare suburb of Glen View.
Zvikomborero Maria Makedenge was arrested following a police report filed at Mbare Police Station. Prosecutors allege that the incident occurred on August 2 of this year at the complainant’s residence.
According to the State’s case, Makedenge is the girlfriend of a tenant currently lodging at the teenager’s family home. It is alleged that on the day in question, Makedenge followed the minor into his bedroom where she forcibly engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse without his consent.
Following the alleged assault, the accused reportedly cautioned the complainant against disclosing the incident. The court heard that Makedenge attempted to secure the boy’s silence by promising to facilitate his emigration to the United States, where she holds formal employment.
The allegations surfaced after the teenager disclosed the events to his sister, who subsequently alerted their mother. A formal complaint was lodged with the police, leading to Makedenge’s arrest and arraignment.
Zvikomborero appeared before a Harare court on Friday, where she was remanded to December 2 for the commencement of trial. The State indicated to the court that investigations into the matter have been concluded.
Makedenge, who is currently released on US$100 bail, is represented by defence lawyer Lennon Itai Rwizi. - Zimbo LIVE Harare

Mesothelioma Lawyer: Asbestos Compensation Guide
Mesothelioma Lawyer: Asbestos Compensation Guide
Mesothelioma is a serious cancer often linked to asbestos exposure. Many people were exposed to asbestos at work, in military service, in construction, in factories, or through old building materials. A mesothelioma lawyer helps victims and families seek compensation from companies responsible for asbestos exposure.
An experienced asbestos attorney understands how to investigate exposure history. Many asbestos cases involve events that happened decades ago. A lawyer may review employment records, military service records, job sites, product history, and medical records to identify where exposure occurred.
What Is Mesothelioma Compensation?
Mesothelioma compensation may come from lawsuits, settlements, asbestos trust funds, or veterans’ benefits. Compensation may help cover medical bills, cancer treatment, lost income, travel expenses, pain and suffering, and family financial support.
Many companies that used asbestos created trust funds for victims. A mesothelioma lawyer can help determine whether you qualify for an asbestos exposure claim or trust fund payment.
Why Legal Help Matters
Asbestos cases are complex. Different states may have different deadlines for filing a claim. A lawyer can help file paperwork correctly and make sure important deadlines are not missed.
Final Thoughts
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, speaking with a mesothelioma lawyer may help you understand your rights and possible compensation options.
