Mutangadura was murdered on 17 August, 2025.The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Phillip Mutasa (38) in connection with the murder and robbery of prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura (67), which occurred on 17 August 2025 at the Mutangadura Hideout property along Dunstan Road in Ruwa, Harare.
According to a police statement released on Saturday, detectives from CID Homicide Harare acted on a tip-off and tracked the suspect to Mkoba Six in Gweru, where he was arrested on 03 October 2025.
Following his arrest, Mutasa reportedly implicated seven accomplices, who remain at large. The police have since launched a nationwide manhunt for the suspects, and investigations are ongoing.

Joseph Mutangadura, a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist, was gunned down in his home in what initially appeared to be a robbery. However, the attackers reportedly ignored offers of cash and stole only a cheap mobile phone, prompting speculation of a targeted hit.
