VICE PRESIDENT Colonel (Retired) Dr Kembo Mohadi has paid an emotional tribute to his late brother, Mr Joel Mutombgwera, describing him as a unifying force whose legacy of faith and family solidarity will endure.
Mr Mutombgwera, who died on 5 October, was laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare following a church service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Highlands.
Reflecting on their bond and the late Mr Mutombgwera’s role in holding the family together, Vice President Mohadi said his brother had left behind enduring lessons of unity and devotion to God.
“We are bidding farewell to a man who did everything possible to unite our family. He raised a family and raised us all. He has been taken away from us. He was a good man. One thing he left us was that of unity, and that we must fear God. We will dearly miss him,” Vice President Dr Mohadi said.
The family described the loss as leaving an irreplaceable void, remembering Mr Mutombgwera as a source of strength and a steadfast advocate for togetherness.
“He was a unifier; he was our pillar of strength,” a relative said.
His commitment to the church also drew tributes from fellow congregants, who recalled his role in bringing people together through faith.
“We have lost someone who united us through the church,” a church member said.
Mr Mutombgwera devoted much of his life to missionary work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving his faith and community.
He was 81 and is survived by five children.
