Six senior members of the Varakashi4ED social media unit have been fired for “indiscipline,” in a move widely seen as part of the ongoing power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
The dismissals were ordered by Zanu PF’s legal affairs boss, Patrick Chinamasa, under direct instructions from Mnangagwa.further informed Machacha that Norman Mbimbi had been appointed as the new administrator of Varakashi4ED, while Dereck Goto would take over as director of operations.
The latest purge within Zanu PF’s online propaganda arm underscores intensifying factional tensions, particularly between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.
Since orchestrating the 2017 coup that removed Robert Mugabe, the two men have maintained an uneasy alliance, with Chiwenga widely regarded as a potential challenger to Mnangagwa’s grip on power.
Tensions between their factions is a state-sponsored online propaganda unit tasked with attacking opposition figures, shaping digital discourse in favour of Mnangagwa, and silencing dissent within Zanu PF.
Chinamasa, who serves as the executive director of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, announced the sackings in a letter dated February 11, 2025, addressed to the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha.
He revealed that the decision followed a high-level meeting with Mnangagwa on February 3 to discuss growing disciplinary concerns within the unit.factions have been steadily rising, as Chiwenga’s military-aligned supporters grow increasingly frustrated with Mnangagwa’s consolidation of control.
The Varakashi4ED dismissals suggest a renewed effort by Mnangagwa to tighten his hold over Zanu PF’s internal structures and suppress dissent within the party’s information machinery.
Previously, the Varakashi unit was used to attack opposition politicians, independent journalists, and even party members suspected of disloyalty.
However, recent reports suggest factional battles within the group, with some members allegedly aligning with Chiwenga’s camp to undermine Mnangagwa’s authority under the guise of promoting party interests.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence and Human Employment
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming industries around the world, creating both opportunities and concerns about the future of work. Businesses are increasingly using AI-powered systems to automate tasks, improve productivity, and reduce operational costs. From customer service chatbots and automated factories to self-driving vehicles and advanced medical systems, artificial intelligence is reshaping how companies operate in the modern economy.

One of the biggest advantages of AI is efficiency. Machines can process large amounts of data much faster than humans, helping businesses make quicker and more accurate decisions. In healthcare, AI assists doctors in diagnosing diseases and analyzing medical records. In banking, machine learning systems detect fraud and improve financial security. Online retailers use AI algorithms to personalize shopping experiences and recommend products to consumers.

Despite these benefits, many people worry that automation could replace traditional jobs. Workers in manufacturing, transportation, and administrative sectors are especially concerned about job security as companies adopt automated systems. Experts believe that while some jobs may disappear, new opportunities will emerge in fields such as software engineering, cybersecurity, robotics, and data science.

Education and skills development will play a critical role in preparing future workers for AI-driven economies. Governments and educational institutions are being encouraged to invest in digital literacy programs, coding education, and technical training. Adaptability and lifelong learning are expected to become increasingly important as technology continues evolving rapidly.

U.S.–Iran Tensions Rise After Major Naval Incident in Strait of Hormuz
Global tensions are increasing after a reported naval confrontation involving the United States and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. The incident has sparked fears of rising fuel prices, global economic instability, and potential military escalation in the Middle East. Governments around the world are closely monitoring the situation as international markets react to the growing uncertainty.

The Strait of Hormuz is responsible for transporting a large percentage of the world’s oil supply, making any disruption in the region a serious concern for energy markets. Financial analysts say prolonged tensions could lead to higher gasoline prices across the United States and increased transportation costs globally. Americans are closely following the developing story as searches related to “oil prices,” “Iran conflict,” and “Middle East tensions” continue trending online.
