According to Nyathi, the incident happened around 10:00 PM on July 29, 2026, at the nine-kilometre mark along the Harare-Bulawayo highway, near the Tynwald Rail Road Flyover close to the Harare Drive intersection.
“Six people died and six others were injured after a kombi carrying 11 passengers left the road and dropped into a deep, water-filled concrete drainage channel,” Nyathi said.
