Scary Situation As Suspected Coronavirus Patient ESCAPES From Wilkins Hospital

In a startling development, a suspected coronavirus patient is reported to have escaped from the Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital in Harare,  Zimbabwe.

The disturbing news was confirmed by Zimpapers owned Star FM radio on social media. According to Star FM, the suspected coronavirus patient who is from Thailand had been quarantined at the infectious diseases hospital so that the medical authorities could test him for the deadly virus.

However, before the tests could be conducted the Thai national somehow slinked away from the attention of the medical authorities. It is not yet clear how he escaped and the medical authorities are yet to reveal the details.

Writing on their Twitter social media page, Star FM said,
"#NewsAlert: A suspected coronavirus patient escapes from Wilkins Hospital isolation centre. Health authorities are now looking for the Thai national who disappeared before tests could be conducted. @StarfmZimbabwe

The development comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s neighbours, South Africa, have recorded multiple cases of the deadly coronavirus which has so far killed 3,888 people across the world and infected more than 111,753 people globally.

In South Africa, however, the disease has not killed anyone.  In fact, the first patient who tested positive for the deadly coronavirus has been successfully cured and is now ready to go home.  This comes at a time when many have been speculating on whether African governments are prepared to battle the coronavirus, which has been renamed Covid-19.
