RUSAPE — A 30-year-old man from Nyazura his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

RUSAPE — A 30-year-old man from Nyazura has been sentenced to an effective 20 years in prison by the Rusape Magistrates' Court after being convicted of r@ping his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

The conviction and sentence were detailed in a bulletin released by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) on May 13, 2026.

The abuse commenced on an unspecified date in January 2025. Prosecutors established that the offender, employed as a security guard, left his residence for work at approximately 5:00 p.m. He subsequently contacted a neighbor, asking them to instruct his stepdaughter to bring cash to his workplace.

When the 13-year-old arrived at the guard room, the man intentionally delayed her return until nightfall. The NPAZ stated that under the cover of darkness, the offender ordered the victim to undress, threatening to kill her if she did not comply. He then raped the minor and issued further death threats to ensure she did not report the sexual assault.

Capitalizing on the victim's forced silence, the stepfather went on to rape the minor several more times, with assaults occurring in his bedroom and in nearby woods, according to the prosecuting authority.

The serial abuse was eventually uncovered when the victim's mother suspected her daughter might be pregnant. Upon being interrogated by her mother, the minor disclosed the sexual abuse, prompting the family to immediately file a report with the police. - Zimbo LIVE Harare

First Offense DUI Lawyer: What Happens After Your First DUI Arrest?

A first DUI arrest can be frightening, especially if you have never been in trouble before. A first offense DUI lawyer can explain the process and help protect your rights.

After an arrest, you may face both criminal court and a license-related administrative process. These are separate issues. Missing a deadline for a license hearing can cause problems even before the court case is resolved.

Penalties for a first DUI may include fines, probation, alcohol education, community service, license suspension, ignition interlock, and possible jail time. The outcome depends on state law and the facts of the case.

A lawyer may review whether the traffic stop was lawful, whether the officer had probable cause, whether tests were accurate, and whether procedures were followed.

In some cases, a first-time offender may qualify for reduced charges, diversion programs, or alternative sentencing. This depends on the court and local law.

Do not assume a first DUI is minor. A conviction can stay on your record and affect insurance, employment, and driving privileges.

Getting legal advice early can help you understand your options and avoid mistakes that make the situation worse.
