Ras Pompy in court over Bronco

Zimdancehall chanter, Nyasha Reginald Mano, popularly known as Ras Pompy, last week appeared in court after he was arrested for unlawful possession of 24x100ml bottles of Broncleer cough syrup, 20 x 100ml bottles of Benylin cough syrup and 55 x 100ml of Astra Pain cough syrup.

Ras Pompy was remanded in custody until today for bail ruling.

He was charged with contravening the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Gamuchirai Gore.

It is the State’s case that on July 16, 2025 at around 1100 hours, Detectives from CID Drugs Harare spotted a black Honda Fit vehicle (registration numbers AGS 6699) in a traffic jam. The vehicle was in their database of vehicles supplying drugs in Harare along Kambuzuma Road.

The court heard that the detectives signalled Ras Pompy to pull off the road, but he sped off into the Rugare residential area, prompting detectives to chase after him.

It is alleged that Ras Pompy hit a metal pole as he fled from the police.

The detectives then approached him.

The court heard that the dancehall chanter’s car was searched, resulting in the seizure of about 100 bottles of cough syrup whose street value is USD$396.

Ras Pompy was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs Harare.

The drugs and the motor vehicle were seized by the police.

Debt Consolidation Loans: Are They Worth It?

Debt can become overwhelming when you are juggling multiple credit cards, personal loans, medical bills, and high-interest payments. A debt consolidation loan may help simplify your finances by combining several debts into one monthly payment.

rnrn

The main goal of debt consolidation is to get a lower interest rate, reduce payment stress, and create a clearer payoff plan. Instead of making several payments to different lenders, you make one payment to one lender.

rnrn

Debt consolidation may be worth it if you qualify for a lower interest rate than what you are currently paying. This is especially helpful for credit card debt, which often has high interest rates.

rnrn

However, debt consolidation is not magic. It does not erase your debt. It only restructures it. If you continue using credit cards after consolidating, you may end up with even more debt.

rnrn

Before applying, check the loan’s interest rate, fees, repayment term, monthly payment, and total cost. A lower monthly payment may sound good, but if the loan term is much longer, you may pay more interest over time.

rnrn

Your credit score affects your options. People with strong credit usually qualify for better rates. If your credit score is low, you may receive high-interest offers that do not actually save money.

rnrn

Debt consolidation can also help your credit if you make payments on time and reduce credit card balances. But missing payments can damage your credit further.

rnrn

Other options may include credit counseling, balance transfer cards, debt management plans, or budgeting changes.

rnrn

A debt consolidation loan is worth considering if it lowers your interest, creates a realistic payoff plan, and helps you stop relying on credit cards.

rnrn

The key is discipline. Consolidation works best when you combine it with better spending habits and a serious plan to become debt-free.

Debt Consolidation Loans: Pros and Cons

Debt consolidation loans allow borrowers to combine multiple debts into one monthly payment. Many people use them to consolidate credit card debt and reduce high interest charges.

A debt consolidation loan may simplify your finances by replacing several payments with one fixed payment.

Benefits of Consolidation

The main benefit is convenience. You may also qualify for a lower interest rate, which can reduce total interest costs. Fixed payments can make budgeting easier.

Risks to Consider

Debt consolidation does not solve spending problems. If you pay off credit cards and then run them up again, you may end up with more debt.

Some loans also include fees, so it is important to compare total cost.

Conclusion

Debt consolidation loans can be useful when used responsibly. Compare rates, fees, terms, and monthly payments before applying.
