PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has stepped up Zimbabwe’s investment drive in New York, engaging 35 top investors as the country seeks to attract fresh capital across key sectors of the economy.
The investors, who included businesspeople already operating in Zimbabwe, met President Mnangagwa at a working dinner on Monday evening, where they discussed investment opportunities and developments under the Second Republic.
The President is in New York for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he is also holding bilateral meetings and promoting Zimbabwe’s investment opportunities on the global stage.
Among those attending the dinner were executives with existing investments in Zimbabwe, who shared their experiences with potential new investors.
Chairperson of the Victoria Falls International Finance Centre, Mr Marc Holtzman, said Zimbabwe was increasingly attracting interest from international investors.
“This is Africa’s century and within Africa it is Zimbabwe’s time. The hard work that President Mnangagwa has done over the last eight years to boost the stock market, to reform the economy, to attract foreign investment, to build out the sector is now beginning to be appreciated by American, European, and Western investors about the tremendous opportunities and upside of investing in Zimbabwe,” he said.
He said reforms in the mining sector and monetary policy were helping change perceptions about Zimbabwe.
“The misconceptions are going away because the President has opened the mining sector; he’s opened the country for business, he’s reformed the monetary policy, he’s stabilised the currency. The stock market alone in Zimbabwe has increased by 62% in the past year, making it the number one performing stock market in the world, and this is only the beginning.”
Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said discussions covered a broad range of sectors, including tourism, mining and financial services.
“Naturally, we discussed the progress that Zimbabwe has made up to date under the Second Republic, an economy that is growing strongly. Last year we had a growth rate of 8.3%, this year it’s been 5%, but an economy in full recovery,” he said.
“Every sector is performing: the agricultural sector, mining sector, manufacturing sector. So, the opportunities are right across those sectors. And each of the business people was able to articulate what they were interested in. Some were interested in tourism, some were asking about the mining sector, some were asking about the financial sector.”
Professor Ncube said investors already operating in Zimbabwe also shared their experiences with those considering entering the market.
“But right across there was interest from these billionaires, wealthy people to investing in Zimbabwe. Some of them were already active on the ground, so they were able to share with the newcomers what Zimbabwe is like. What should you expect if you’re doing business in Zimbabwe, what’s good about it? And it was amazing that those who already invested in Zimbabwe praised the quality of Zimbabwe in skills, levels of education, dedication to work and discipline,” he said.
Cabinet ministers and officials accompanying President Mnangagwa are also holding sector-specific bilateral meetings as Zimbabwe intensifies its investment engagement in New York.
Best Business Credit Cards for Small Business Owners
A business credit card can be a useful financial tool for small business owners. It can help separate personal and business expenses, build business credit, track spending, manage cash flow, and earn rewards on everyday purchases.

The best business credit card depends on how your business spends money. Some cards offer cash back on office supplies, fuel, internet, phone service, shipping, restaurants, or travel. Others offer flat-rate rewards on all purchases. If your spending is spread across many categories, a flat-rate card may be easier to manage.
Before applying, compare the annual fee. A card with a high annual fee may still be worth it if the rewards, travel credits, or business benefits exceed the cost. However, for smaller businesses, a no-annual-fee card may be a better starting point.
Interest rate is also important. If you pay your balance in full every month, the interest rate may not matter as much. But if you carry a balance, a high APR can quickly become expensive. Business owners who need financing should compare credit cards with other options such as business lines of credit or small business loans.

Some business credit cards offer employee cards. This can make it easier to control spending and track purchases by employee. Look for cards that allow spending limits, alerts, and category controls
Rewards can be valuable, but they should not encourage unnecessary spending. A good rule is to choose a card that rewards expenses you already have. For example, if your business spends heavily on advertising, a card with bonus rewards for digital ad purchases may be useful.
Business credit cards may also include benefits such as purchase protection, extended warranties, travel insurance, rental car coverage, and expense management tools. These features can save money when used properly.
To improve approval chances, check your credit score, business revenue, and existing debt before applying. Many business cards require a personal guarantee, meaning the owner may be responsible for repayment if the business cannot pay.
A business credit card should support your financial system, not replace responsible budgeting. Track expenses monthly, pay on time, and avoid mixing personal purchases with business transactions.
When used wisely, a business credit card can help small business owners improve organization, earn rewards, and manage short-term expenses more effectively.

Home Equity Loan vs. HELOC: Which Option Is Better?
Homeowners who have built equity may be able to borrow against their home through a home equity loan or a home equity line of credit, commonly called a HELOC. Both options use the home as collateral, but they work differently.
rnrn
A home equity loan provides a lump sum of money that is repaid over a set term with regular monthly payments. Many home equity loans have fixed interest rates, which makes payments predictable. This can be useful for one-time expenses such as a major home improvement project, debt consolidation, or a large planned purchase.
rnrn
A HELOC works more like a credit card. The lender gives you access to a line of credit, and you can borrow as needed during the draw period. HELOCs often have variable interest rates, meaning the payment can rise or fall over time. This flexibility can be useful for ongoing projects or uncertain expenses.
rnrn
The main advantage of a home equity loan is stability. You know how much you borrowed, what your payment is, and when the loan will be paid off. The main disadvantage is that you receive the full amount upfront, even if you do not need all of it immediately.
rnrn
The main advantage of a HELOC is flexibility. You can borrow only what you need, when you need it. The main risk is that variable rates can make payments unpredictable. Some borrowers may also be tempted to keep borrowing, which can increase debt.
rnrn
Before choosing either option, consider the risk. Because the loan is secured by your home, failure to repay could put your home at risk. Borrowing against home equity should be done carefully and for a clear financial purpose.
rnrn
Compare interest rates, fees, repayment terms, draw periods, closing costs, and whether the rate is fixed or variable. Also ask whether there are annual fees, early closure fees, or minimum withdrawal requirements.
rnrn
Home equity borrowing may make sense for improvements that increase property value or for consolidating high-interest debt with a clear repayment plan. It may not be wise for unnecessary spending or short-term lifestyle purchases.
rnrn
The best option depends on your goals. Choose a home equity loan if you need a fixed amount and predictable payment. Choose a HELOC if you need flexible access to funds over time.

Before borrowing, compare lenders and review the full cost carefully.

Best Term Life Insurance Policies for Families
Term life insurance is one of the simplest ways to protect your family financially if something unexpected happens. It provides coverage for a set period, which makes it a practical choice for families who want affordable protection during the years they need it most.
rnMany families choose term life because it can offer a large amount of coverage at a lower monthly cost than permanent life insurance. That is especially useful if you are paying a mortgage, raising children, or trying to replace income for a spouse or partner. The main goal is to make sure your family would have enough support if you were no longer there.
rnWhen comparing policies, focus on coverage amount, term length, and insurer reliability. A policy should be large enough to cover living expenses, debts, childcare, and future costs such as college or mortgage payments. The right term length usually matches your biggest financial responsibilities.
rnIt is also smart to compare riders and policy features. Some policies offer options like accelerated death benefits or conversion privileges, which can add flexibility later. Even though these extras may not matter right away, they can become important as your family’s needs change.
rnHealth and age play a major role in pricing. In many cases, younger and healthier applicants get lower premiums. That is why it often makes sense to buy coverage before health issues appear or before your family’s financial needs increase.
rnA good term life policy should be easy to understand and simple to maintain. You want a plan that gives your family peace of mind without forcing you into complicated features you do not need. For most families, clarity and affordability matter more than anything else.
rnIf you are comparing policies for the first time, think about what your family would need if your income stopped tomorrow. That question can help you choose the right coverage amount and avoid buying too little protection.
rnThe best term life insurance policy is the one that fits your budget today while protecting your family’s future.
