OVER 50 PUPILS, TEACHERS HOSPITALISED AFTER BEE ATTACK IN BULAWAYO
More than 50 pupils and teachers from Barham Green Primary School were rushed to Arundel Hospital at United Bulawayo Hospitals this Friday evening after being attacked by a swarm of bees.
Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mhlangano Moyo, who attended the scene, described the situation as chaotic, with four ambulances deployed to transport victims who sustained multiple bee stings. Authorities say medical teams responded swiftly and those affected received urgent treatment.

Such attacks can be deadly but the jokes here about this tragedy say a lot about us as a people. Where has our empathy flown to? Would it hurt to wish those affected healing prayers? May God in His mercy restore our humanity, for we have somehow lost it ?A place of learning turned into a scene of panic and terror when school children at Barham Green Primary School in Bulawayo were reportedly attacked by a swarm of bees at the school, leaving several pupils injured and requiring medical treatment.

Parents send their children to school expecting them to learn in a safe and secure environment. Instead, young learners were allegedly forced to run for their lives as bees descended on them, causing fear, pain and trauma. No child should have to endure such an ordeal while simply trying to get an education.
Serious questions now need to be asked about whether adequate measures were taken to identify and address the presence of a bee hive on school premises before the incident occurred. If concerns had been raised previously and no action was taken, then those responsible must be held accountable. The headteacher has a case to answer if the school ignored the Bee Hive at the school premises.
Children deserve better. Schools have a duty of care to protect learners from foreseeable dangers and to ensure that classrooms and school grounds remain safe at all times. Safety cannot be treated as an afterthought when the wellbeing of hundreds of children is at stake.
Parents have every right to demand answers, a full investigation into what happened, and assurances that such an incident will never occur again. Any pupils who required medical treatment should receive the necessary support, and the circumstances surrounding the incident must be thoroughly examined.
The priority now is the recovery of the affected children, but accountability and transparency must follow. Every child deserves to learn in an environment free from fear, danger and preventable risks #ezratshisa4life #ProtectChildren
