Nigerian newly employed prison officer sacked for trying to deliver dr¥gs to an inmate in USA prison

A recently hired officer with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office in the U.S. has been fired and charged after allegedly attempting to bring dr¥gs into a local jail.

The officer, Amarachukwu W. Igwe, joined the department in July 2025 and was arrested on April 4, before any narc+tics reached inmates at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.

Investigators say Igwe intended to deliver the dr¥gs to a prisoner, but the sheriff’s internal investigations team discovered the scheme and acted before the substances entered the facility or reached the general population.

Igwe was processed at the Arlington County Detention Facility and now faces charges including delivery of dr¥gs to prisoners, conspiracy to deliver dr¥gs to prisoners, and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.

Sheriff Sean Casey confirmed her immediate termination, emphasizing that the department will not tolerate breaches of trust or security.

“I have zero tolerance for actions that undermine the security of our facility,” Casey said. “Those who violate the public trust will face the full consequences.”

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

Compensation may be available through lawsuits, asbestos trust funds, settlements, or wrongful death claims. Money may help pay for medical care, travel, lost income, pain and suffering, and family support.

rnrn
