MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti Ndirikutyira Hupenyu Hwangu Zanu Irikuda Kundiuraya

MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti, has approached the police in Harare after receiving death threats over the phone from an unknown number.

According to him, this happened a month ago and shortly after the recall of 8 more MDC A senators this week. According to Biti, the unknown caller who has been labelled him a traitor, has accused him of dining with the serpent in apparent reference to MDC-T leader ThokozaniKhupe.

This development follows recent reports in the Daily News and News Day which have disclosed the secret meetings that have taken place between the beleaguered VP and restored MDC-T leader, Khupe. The unknown caller who mentioned Biti’s home address further told him to quit the Alliance or face dire consequences including death.

“I know these people, they are from my own party and this again happened last month when l had an argument with them but now l fear for my life since they want to burn my house and to assassinate me,” the depressed Biti told Bulawayo24 News journalists. Biti further dismissed the allegations that he is planning to join Khupe and insisted that he will remain in the Alliance despite these death threats.

The police have traced the mobile phone from which the the calls were made to Biti. As per police investigations, a caller named Eddie Gore from St Mary’s Chitungwiza was issuing threats to Biti using an Econet sim card. They have also found that the calls were made from a stolen phone.
“We have recorded Mr Tendai Biti’s statement after he reported the matter. The caller has been abusing and threatening him.

“We have increased our surveillance of his residence as we do not take the threat lightly. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to keep constant watch on suspicious people,” an officer at Harare Central told our reporters.

The officer also said Biti had received three threat calls in the past month from the same number. “The caller has been abusing and threatening Mr Biti with death. The caller identified himself as Eddie Gore, and he has contacted Mr Biti 3 June, 17 June and recently on 1 July,” the officer revealed.

Renewable Energy and the Future of Sustainable Development

Renewable energy has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in the global economy as countries seek sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. Solar power, wind energy, geothermal systems, and hydroelectric projects are helping reduce environmental pollution while supporting long-term economic growth and energy security.

rnrn

One of the main advantages of renewable energy is that it produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional energy sources. Solar panels and wind turbines generate electricity without releasing harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. This helps combat climate change while reducing health risks associated with air pollution.

Developing countries are increasingly investing in renewable energy projects to expand electricity access and reduce dependence on imported fuels. In many African nations, solar power systems are helping rural communities gain access to reliable electricity for schools, hospitals, and businesses. Renewable energy industries are also creating employment opportunities in engineering, manufacturing, and construction sectors.

Despite its benefits, renewable energy still faces challenges including infrastructure costs, energy storage limitations, and inconsistent weather conditions affecting power generation. However, technological advancements and government incentives continue driving innovation in clean energy systems. Experts believe renewable energy will play a major role in shaping future global economies and environmental sustainability efforts.
