However, because God knows that many people assume angels have wings, He may allow them to appear that way so that when you encounter one, you can recognise it.
This is the danger of living in an uninformed state—you end up reducing profound experiences to the level of
your ignorance. You must never shrink God to your level of understanding but allow the revelation of the divine to come from Him and not your assumptions. May God open your eyes to His truth so that you may know Him as He truly is, beyond the limits of your own understanding.
