BULAWAYO — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have apprehended a 24-year-old man accused of murdering his employer during an attempted armed robbery at a residence in Bulawayo's Khumalo suburb.
Kelvin MatambudzikoNdavambi was arrested on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the Bulawayo Central Business District as he attempted to board a bus bound for Harare, according to a police statement. He is the primary suspect in the May 9 killing of 67-year-old businessman Noor Hussein, a foreign national.
According to a press statement authorised by ZRP Commissioner P. Nyathi, Ndavambi and an accomplice—identified by authorities only as "Dhlamini"—targeted Hussein’s home during the night.
Police allege the pair arrived armed with pistols and wooden planks. During the course of the attempted robbery, the suspects allegedly attacked the businessman and strangled him with a towel in the presence of his family.
The assailants fled the scene after the victim's family raised an alarm, a disturbance that prompted nearby relatives to rush to the property, the statement said.
While Ndavambi is currently in police custody, authorities confirmed that Dhlamini remains at large.
