Gweru Provincial Hospital Carried out its first inter-hospital air transfer

Thats the Zimbabwe we have become.GWERU1| Provincial Hospital carried out its first inter-hospital air transfer this Tuesday, which saw one of Zimbabwe’s air ambulances land at the hospital.

A seven-month-old baby boy was on board the flight and he was being managed by child specialist pediatricians at Mpilo hospital before being transferred to Gweru.

/Speaking to Central Radio 95.8, Dr Mukwembi, the Acting Medical Superintendent at Gweru Provincial Hospital, said the boy who was oxygen dependant, was being managed for pneumonia and a stroke.

The boy’s parents reside in Gweru, and this had now made it difficult to continue nursing the boy in Bulawayo.

The air transfer was completed without incident, with the air ambulance landing at Gweru Provincial Hospital on schedule. An awaiting ambulance equipped with intensive care facilities immediately transported the child to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he continues to receive critical medical support.
