Armed men claiming to be law and order police raided the home of Daily News editor Guthrie Munyuki early Friday morning.

This happened after its sister publication, The Financial Gazette made a mistake in an advertisement that suggested President Emmerson Mnangagwa had died.

Citing a Daily News executive briefed on the raid, ZimLive reported that Munyuki was not home at the time but the gunmen temporarily took his wife and children’s phones and looked through their messages.

The executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said a group of men in two vehicles, a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Hilux, went to Munyuki’s house asking for him. Said the executive:

Guthrie’s brother also lives in the same neighbourhood in Westgate and he too was woken up by nearly a dozen men driving in a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Hilux. They demanded his whereabouts.Lawyer Alex Muchadehama planned to meet with the police on Friday to get more information about the situation.

The Financial Gazette had published an advertisement on Thursday from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces congratulating Mnangagwa on his birthday, but it mistakenly ended with, “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

On Friday, the Daily News apologised, saying the mistake was due to a production error. Said the

Mistakes in advertisements happen often in Zimbabwean newspapers. This is because the advertising staff usually use old templates for regular clients, making only small changes to the text.

Unfortunately, this error occurred at a very bad time for the publication as it happened just days after a military helicopter crashed while trying to take off to pick up President Mnangagwa from Bikita.

Addiction Treatment Centers: What Families Should Know Before Choosing Rehab

Choosing an addiction treatment center is a major decision for families. Addiction affects health, relationships, finances, work, and emotional stability. The right treatment program can help a person begin recovery with professional support.

rnrn

Treatment options vary. Some people need inpatient rehab, where they live at the facility and receive structured care. Others may choose outpatient treatment, where they attend therapy while continuing to live at home.

rnrn

Inpatient treatment may be helpful for people with severe addiction, unsafe home environments, repeated relapse, or co-occurring mental health concerns. Outpatient care may work for people with strong support systems and less severe symptoms.

rnrn

Detox may be necessary before treatment begins, especially for substances that can cause withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox helps manage withdrawal safely under professional supervision.

rnrn

A quality treatment center should offer individualized treatment plans. Addiction recovery is not one-size-fits-all. People may need therapy, group counseling, medication-assisted treatment, mental health support, family counseling, and relapse prevention planning.

rnrn

Families should ask about licensing, staff qualifications, treatment methods, medical support, aftercare planning, and insurance coverage.

rnrn

Cost is an important concern. Some rehab centers accept private insurance, Medicaid, or payment plans. Families should verify coverage before admission to avoid surprise bills.

rnrn

Aftercare is one of the most important parts of recovery. Treatment should not end when a person leaves the facility. Ongoing therapy, support groups, sober living, and relapse prevention can help maintain progress.

rnrn

Families should avoid programs that promise instant cures. Recovery takes time, honesty, and support.

rnrn

The best addiction treatment center is one that treats the whole person, not just the substance use. With the right care, recovery is possible.

Motorcycle Accident Lawyer: Legal Help After A Serious Bike Crash

Motorcycle accidents often cause serious injuries because riders have less protection than people in cars. A motorcycle accident lawyer helps injured riders pursue compensation after a crash.

rnrn

Common injuries include broken bones, road rash, spinal injuries, brain injuries, internal injuries, and permanent disability.

rnrn

Insurance companies may unfairly blame motorcyclists by assuming they were speeding or reckless. A lawyer can help fight this bias with evidence.

rnrn

Important evidence may include police reports, helmet damage, photos, witness statements, traffic camera footage, and accident reconstruction.

rnrn

Compensation may include medical bills, lost income, motorcycle repairs, pain and suffering, and future treatment.

rnrn

If a driver failed to yield, changed lanes unsafely, texted while driving, or drove impaired, they may be responsible.

rnrn

Motorcycle crash victims should get medical care quickly and avoid giving recorded statements without legal advice.
