Four passed away in Nyazura Bridge Horror Crash

Correspondent-Four people were killed on the spot early this morning when a Zambian-registered haulage truck, registration number BCF 6582, collided head-on with a Mazda truck near Nyazura Bridge along the Mutare–Harare highway.

The crash occurred at around 4am, approximately 100 metres before the Nyazura Bridge. Preliminary indications are that the Mazda truck encroached into the lane of the oncoming haulage truck, resulting in a devastating head-on collision.All four deceased were passengers travelling in the Mazda truck. One other occupant survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Rusape General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

By 7:30am, the bodies were still at the scene, having been loaded into police vehicles from the Rusape Traffic section. The Zambian driver of the haulage truck, whose identity had not been immediately established, was taken from the scene by police in one of the trucks transporting a body.Police officers attending the scene declined to comment, citing protocol restrictions.

 

 

 

 

The impact left the front of the Mazda truck extensively damaged, while the haulage truck veered off the road and was eventually brought to a stop by a rock outcrop. At the time of the accident, the Zambian truck was travelling towards Forbes Border Post, while the Mazda truck was heading in the direction of Rusape
