FROM INBOX | I am writing this to raise a serious concern involving two officers based at CID Harare Central Police, Genesis Mangombe and Tinashe Muzika. These two individuals obtained USD 10,000 from my relative under false pretences and are now threatening his life and safety.
My relative approached them for assistance with a case he wanted investigated. The case involved an Indian expatriate suspected of money laundering, gold smuggling, and exporting stolen copper wire. Mangombe and Muzika told him they could handle the case swiftly, but they demanded USD 20,000 for their services, insisting on a down payment of USD 10,000 before proceeding.
Once they received the money, they disappeared. They stopped answering his calls and made no effort to follow through on the case. When he confronted them and asked for his money back, they initially agreed, but then Mangombe claimed to be in Tanzania and avoided further contact.
Now things have taken a terrifying turn. These officers are threatening him and our family, saying they will send people to burn his business and his cars. He is now living in fear for his life. Even though CID Headquarters has reached out and asked him to come in to assist with the matter, he’s too afraid to go because of the ongoing threats.
This situation is extremely distressing, and we are deeply concerned for his safety.
