The Midlands Province has been plunged into mourning following the death of Simbarashe Mutukwe, widely known as Cde Riot, who passed away on Monday.

Although the circumstances surrounding his death have not been officially disclosed, some community members have linked his passing to injuries he reportedly sustained in a road traffic accident several months ago.Cde Riot was a well-known figure within ZANU PF structures in the Midlands. At the time of his death, he served as the party’s District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Secretary for Gender and Culture in Gweru. He previously held the position of Political Commissar for the ZANU PF Youth League in the province.

Party members and supporters have begun paying tribute to the late activist, describing him as a committed cadre who dedicated much of his life to political and community work.

A ZANU PF source expressed sympathy to those grieving his loss, saying: “Our heartfelt condolences go to the Mutukwe family, friends, colleagues, and all those affected by this loss. May his soul rest in peace.”ZANU PF DCC Gweru Secretary for Information and Publicity V.D. Maride also conveyed sadness over the passing of the veteran party member.

Family, friends and party colleagues are gathered at house number 3796 Woodlands Phase 2 in Gweru, where mourners are paying their final respects.
