A family member disclosed that Ngekengithule Zuma died from an age-related illness but did not provide further details. The unnamed family member confirmed that Jacob Zuma, also known as Msholozi, is deeply saddened by his brother’s death and cannot join in the celebrations of his party’s achievements.
“He is truly sad about the loss. Msholozi and his brother were very close and for this to happen at such a significant time in the country is sad. He cannot celebrate the victory of his party,” the Zuma family member told ZiMoja.
Condolences from the MK Party as Jacob Zuma’s Brother Dies
The MK Party acknowledged the passing of Joseph Ngekengithule Zuma in an official statement, conveying their condolences to the former president.
“UMkhonto Wesizwe Party sends condolences to President Zuma on the passing of his brother, uBaba uJoseph Ngekengithule Zuma. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement read.

This is not the first time Jacob Zuma has lost a sibling. In July 2021, he lost his younger brother, Michael Zuma, at the age of 77, following an undisclosed long-term illness.
