Biti Arrested & Charged By CID For Assaulting An Elderly Woman

THE Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has detained and charged MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti on charges he physically assaulted an elderly Harare woman at the magistrate’s courts earlier this week.

The arrest comes less than 24 hours after ruling Zanu-PF acting national spokesperson Patrick Chinamasa demanded that police must arrest Biti for assaulting a Ms Tatiana Aleshina, a 54-year-old white lady on Monday.
While the exact circumstances surrounding Biti’s arrest have yet to be revealed, the Harare East legislator revealed that he merely called the complainant in person “an idiot”.

“I have been stuck at CID Law & Order since 11 am being charged with the most spurious, the most desperate of all charges. It is said I called someone an idiot and that is said to be an assault.

“No amount of harassment will prevent us from fighting and exposing corruption,” said Biti on social media.

Police had hinted that the woman in question was having a property wrangle with one of Biti’s clients when the assault allegedly occurred on Monday at the courts.

In his own tweet, Biti hinted that the issue in question regarded corruption surrounding the Joshua Nkomo Road, popularly known as Airport Road, in Harare.

Said Biti: “The Harare Airport Road project was a total stink where thousands of of hectares of land where illegally and fraudulently transferred to Augur Investments and its shelf companies. That land must be returned to the City and its citizens. They want to detain me overnight, so be it,” the abrasive Biti charged.

The City of Harare is involved in several projects with Augur Investments, owned by some Ukrainian business family, but the agreements between the parties had stalled owing to several litigations against each other. Last year, the Council said it had withdrawn the criminal matter against Augur Investment’s manager Michael Van Blerk, with the parties entering into a deed of settlement to peacefully work together.

It is suspected the legal battle between the city and Augur is what got Biti involved as he has previously represented the city in courts.

Addressing a weekly Zanu-PF press briefing yesterday, Chinamasa expressed dismay that police were taking long and Biti must be arrested already.
We condemn very strongly the allegations of gender-based violence that are being levelled against Biti where he (sic) mishandled a lady at the Harare Magistrates Court and Zanu-PF calls upon the law enforcement agents to thoroughly investigate that issue without fear or favour and to take the necessary action that is warranted by the evidence that comes out of the investigation,” he said.

Chinamasa said leaders and those like Biti who aspire for higher office should not be in the forefront of abusing women

Assisted Living Costs: How Families Can Plan For Senior Care

Assisted living can provide seniors with housing, meals, personal care, medication support, social activities, and help with daily tasks. But the cost can be a major concern for families.

rnrn

Assisted living costs vary based on location, facility type, room size, care needs, and services included. Some communities charge a base monthly fee, while others add costs for medication management, bathing assistance, memory care, transportation, or special medical needs.

rnrn

Families should ask what is included in the monthly price. Meals, housekeeping, laundry, utilities, activities, and basic care may be included, but higher levels of care may cost extra.

rnrn

Memory care is usually more expensive than standard assisted living because it provides specialized support for people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

rnrn

Medicare usually does not pay for long-term assisted living room and board. Medicaid may help in some states for eligible individuals, but rules vary. Long-term care insurance may also help if the policy includes assisted living benefits.

rnrn

Families may pay through retirement savings, pensions, Social Security, home sale proceeds, long-term care insurance, or family contributions.

rnrn

Before choosing a facility, visit in person. Pay attention to cleanliness, staff attitude, safety, food quality, resident activities, and how residents are treated.

rnrn

Ask about staffing levels, emergency procedures, medication policies, move-out rules, price increases, and care assessments.

rnrn

Planning early can reduce stress. Waiting until a crisis happens may limit choices and increase pressure.

rnrn

Assisted living is not just about cost. It is about safety, dignity, comfort, and quality of life. The right community can help seniors stay independent while getting the support they need.

rnrn

Families should compare options carefully and choose a place that fits both care needs and budget.

Best Car Insurance Quotes: How to Save Money

Best Car Insurance Quotes: How to Save Money

Car insurance is necessary, but that does not mean you should overpay. Comparing car insurance quotes can help drivers find better rates and coverage. Prices can vary widely between insurance companies, even for the same driver.

To find cheap auto insurance, compare at least three to five quotes. Look at liability coverage, collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist coverage, deductibles, and policy limits.

What Affects Car Insurance Rates?

The best car insurance rates depend on your age, driving history, vehicle type, location, credit history, annual mileage, and coverage level. Drivers with clean records usually pay less.

Bundling home and auto insurance, increasing your deductible, maintaining good credit, and asking about discounts may lower your premium.

Full Coverage Insurance

Full coverage insurance usually includes liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage. It costs more than minimum coverage but may provide better protection after an accident, theft, storm damage, or vandalism.

Final Thoughts

The best way to save on auto insurance is to compare quotes regularly. Even if you already have coverage, shopping around may help you find a better deal.
