shocking lula lula incident has emerged from the ZUPCO depot in Belvedere, Harare, where a 44-year-old employee, Amon Manjengwa, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman who was seeking employment.
The case has raised serious concerns about workplace safety and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
The alleged incident occurred in December 2023 when the young woman visited the ZUPCO depot to submit her Curriculum Vitae in hopes of securing a position as a bus conductor.
According to police reports, Manjengwa approached her with an offer to help her gain employment. However, this seemingly innocent interaction took a dark turn when he lured her into his office.
“Whilst in the office, the accused person locked the door and instructed the complainant to give him her National Identification Card,” explained Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza.
In the aftermath of the alleged assault, Manjengwa reportedly begged the victim not to report the incident, promising to marry her and assist her in securing the job she desired. The victim, believing his assurances, entered into a relationship with him, and they lived together as husband and wife for nearly
a year.
However, the relationship took a turn for the worse last month when Manjengwa ended their partnership and married another woman. It was this betrayal that prompted the young woman to come forward and report the rape to the police.
