Tyian Powell, a single mother from the U.S., recently shared a story that quickly gained attention online after a date ended suddenly when her companion discovered she had six kids.
Powell explained on her Facebook page that she had been talking with the man for about a week before they decided to meet face-to-face. Their phone conversations had been friendly and casual, with both agreeing to save more personal topics for their first meeting. However, during the date, when the subject of children came up, Powell disclosed that she was a mother of six. This revelation instantly changed the man’s attitude.
Despite the abrupt shift, Powell said she tried to ease his concerns by emphasizing that she was well-organized, confident, and attractive—and that having six children shouldn’t be seen as a negative factor.
She wrote:
“So I’ve been talking to a guy for about a week, and we went on our first date yesterday. We had small talk over the phone and agreed to have deeper conversations in person.
“The date was going well until we discussed kids. I told him I have 6 kids, and his mood changed. I asked him what’s wrong, and he said a woman with 6 kids isn’t ideal for him.
“I explained that I have my life together, I’m attractive, and the number of kids I have shouldn’t matter. I also said maybe he’s not man enough for a woman of my caliber. He then got up and left without paying for the meal!”
