Robert Kanyuchi was left stunned when his dog brought home a human head, which it dropped at his feet.
The villager had been reported missing two months earlier.
The community is still reeling in shock.
Sekuru Kanyuchi advised the family of the missing elderly man to come and identify his remains.
Esma Matewa, 50, confirmed that the head belonged to his grandfather, Akim Nyanga Murembeni, 80, who had been missing since June 16 this year.
The villagers then embarked on a search, tracing the dog’s path, and found the additional remains of Murembeni in a state of advanced decomposition.
The police were promptly informed and officers attended the scene, transporting the remains to Rusape General Hospital, for a post-mortem examination.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, adding that a full-scale investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding Murembeni’s death.
“Murembeni left home on June 16, 2025, and never returned.
“On June 23, 2025 Murembeni’s granddaughter Esma Matewa (50), of Makwanya Village Chief Tandi, reported Murembeni as a missing person at Rusape Central Police Station.
“On August 16, 2025 at around 6am, Robert Tandi Kanyuchi, of Sirewo Village, under Chief Tandi, was at his home when he noticed his dog carrying a human skull.
“He informed Esma who came and positively identified the head as that of Murembeni.
“Kanyuchi informed other villagers and they conducted a search. They then discovered his other remains, which were in the bush, in an advanced state of decomposition.
“Esma reported the matter to Rusape Police Station and police attended the scene. Remains were conveyed to Rusape General Hospital for postmortem.
“Investigations are underway,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

Best Personal Injury Lawyer After a Car Accident
A serious car accident can leave you dealing with medical bills, lost wages, pain, stress, and insurance problems. This is why many accident victims search for the best personal injury lawyer after a crash. A good car accident attorney can help protect your rights, deal with the insurance company, and fight for fair injury compensation.
After an accident, insurance companies may contact you quickly and offer a settlement. The first offer may not cover all your losses. You may still need medical treatment, physical therapy, vehicle repairs, or time away from work. A personal injury lawyer can review your case and help estimate the full value of your car accident claim.
A lawyer can also collect important evidence. This may include police reports, medical records, witness statements, accident scene photos, and insurance documents. These details can help prove who was at fault and how badly you were injured.
What Compensation Can Include
A car accident settlement may include emergency room bills, hospital costs, surgery, therapy, lost income, future medical care, property damage, and pain and suffering. In more serious cases, compensation may also include long-term disability or reduced earning ability.
When to Call a Lawyer
You should consider calling a personal injury lawyer if you were seriously injured, the insurance company is delaying payment, fault is disputed, or the settlement offer seems too low. Legal help is especially important when medical bills are high or injuries may affect your future.
Final Thoughts
Hiring the right personal injury lawyer after a car accident can make a major difference. Before accepting any settlement, make sure you understand the full cost of your injuries and what your claim may be worth.
Drug Rehab Treatment Centers: How to Choose the Right Program
Choosing a drug rehab treatment center is an important decision for individuals and families facing substance use challenges. The right program can provide structure, support, therapy, and recovery planning. However, not every treatment center is the same, so it is important to understand what to compare.
rnrn
Drug rehab programs may include inpatient treatment, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, standard outpatient care, and aftercare support. The best level of care depends on the person’s substance use history, health needs, home environment, mental health concerns, and risk of relapse.
rnrn
Inpatient or residential treatment usually provides 24-hour support in a structured setting. This may be helpful for people who need a stable environment away from triggers. Outpatient treatment allows people to live at home while attending scheduled therapy sessions. This may work better for people with strong support systems and less severe needs.
rnrn
Medical detox may be needed for some substances. Detox should be supervised by qualified medical professionals because withdrawal can be uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous. Detox alone is usually not a complete treatment plan; it is often the first step before therapy and long-term recovery work.
rnrn
A quality treatment center should offer individualized care. Addiction recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Treatment may include individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, relapse prevention planning, medication-assisted treatment when appropriate, and mental health support.
rnrn
Licensing and accreditation matter. Families should ask whether the facility is licensed in its state and whether staff members are qualified. It is also important to ask about treatment methods, patient safety, staff-to-client ratio, and emergency procedures.
rnrn
Cost is another factor. Some rehab centers accept insurance, while others require private payment. Before admission, ask for a clear explanation of costs, insurance coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, and refund policies.
rnrn
Location can also matter. Some people benefit from being close to family. Others may need distance from unhealthy environments. The right decision depends on the person’s support system and recovery goals.
rnrn
Aftercare is one of the most important parts of treatment. Recovery does not end when a program is completed. A strong discharge plan may include outpatient therapy, support groups, sober living, relapse prevention strategies, and follow-up appointments.
